What is Booting?

Booting is a process by which the computer is made ready to work for the user by loading an operating system into the computer’s main memory or random access memory (RAM). During the Booting process, the Computer system will check all the hardware and software which are installed or connected with the system and this will also load all the files that are needed for running a system.

बूटिंग एक ऐसी प्रक्रिया है जिसमे ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम को कंप्यूटर की मुख्य मेमोरी या रैंडम एक्सेस मेमोरी (RAM) में लोड करके उपयोगकर्ता के लिए काम करने के लिए तैयार किया जाता है। बूटिंग प्रक्रिया के दौरान, कंप्यूटर सिस्टम उन सभी हार्डवेयर और सॉफ्टवेयर की जांच करता है जो सिस्टम से इंस्टॉल या कनेक्टेड हैं और यह उन सभी फाइलों को भी लोड करता है जो सिस्टम को चलाने के लिए आवश्यक हैं।

 

Types of Booting

There are mainly two types

यह मुख्यतः दो प्रकार की होती है

·         Cold Booting or Soft Booting

·         Warm Booting or Hard Booting

 

Cold Booting

When the computer starts for the first time i.e. when the computer is in shut-down state and we press the power on button to start the system, then this type of process to start the computer is called cold Booting. During cold booting, the system will read all the instructions from the ROM (BIOS) and the Operating System will be automatically get loaded into the System.

जब कंप्यूटर पहली बार शुरू होता है यानी जब कंप्यूटर शट डाउन अवस्था में होता है और हम सिस्टम को चालू करने के लिए पावर ऑन बटन दबाते हैं, तो कंप्यूटर को शुरू करने की इस प्रकार की प्रक्रिया को कोल्ड बूटिंग कहा जाता है। कोल्ड बूटिंग के दौरान, सिस्टम रोम (BIOS) से सभी निर्देशों को पढ़ेगा और ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम सिस्टम में स्वचालित रूप से लोड हो जाएगा।

Warm Booting

The warm Booting is the booting process in which the system is allowed to restart during on condition. It is also referred to as rebooting. Rebooting may be required when we install new software or hardware and the system requires the reboot in order to set changes in software or hardware configuration or may not responding properly. In such a case, the system has to be restart. Most commonly Cntr+Alt+Del button is used to reboot the system. 

वार्म बूटिंग वह बूटिंग प्रक्रिया है जिसमें सिस्टम को ऑन कंडीशन के दौरान Restart करने की अनुमति दी जाती है। इसे रिबूटिंग भी कहा जाता है। जब हम नया सॉफ़्टवेयर या हार्डवेयर Install करते हैं तो रीबूटिंग की आवश्यकता हो सकती है और सॉफ़्टवेयर या हार्डवेयर कॉन्फ़िगरेशन में परिवर्तन सेट करने के लिए सिस्टम को रीबूट की आवश्यकता होती है या ठीक से काम नही करता है। ऐसे मामले में, सिस्टम को रीस्टार्ट करना होता है। सिस्टम को रिबूट करने के लिए आमतौर पर Cntr+Alt+Del बटन का उपयोग किया जाता है।

 

Booting process of computer step by step:

Generally booting includes a number of tasks. These tasks are performed to make the computer system ready.

आम तौर पर बूटिंग में कई कार्य शामिल होते हैं। ये कार्य कंप्यूटर सिस्टम को तैयार करने के लिए किए जाते हैं।

 

·         When the power gets ON, memory testing (RAM test) is performed.

·         When this is OK, a boot loader program checks all H/W attached with computer system. Such as keyboard, hard disk, CPU, etc.

·         Then after, the boot loader program searches for operating system in secondary storage device. If it found, it calls the main program of operating system and loads operating system into RAM.

·         After successfully loaded the operating system. If the operating system is DOS, then the prompt may be A :\>, B :\>, or C :\>. If it is Windows then a desktop is displayed with Start Button.

 

·         जब कंप्यूटर में पॉवर सप्लाई की जाती है, तो मेमोरी परीक्षण (रैम परीक्षण) किया जाता है।

·         जब यह ठीक होता है, बूट लोडर प्रोग्राम कंप्यूटर सिस्टम से जुड़े सभी हार्डवेयर की जांच करता है। जैसे कि कीबोर्ड, हार्ड डिस्क, सीपीयू आदि।

·         इसके बाद, बूट लोडर प्रोग्राम सेकेंडरी स्टोरेज डिवाइस में ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम की खोज करता है। यदि यह पाया जाता है, तो यह ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम के मुख्य प्रोग्राम को कॉल करता है और ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम को रैम में लोड करता है।

·         ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम को सफलतापूर्वक लोड करने के बाद,यदि ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम डॉस है, तो प्रॉम्प्ट A :\>, B :\>, or C :\> हो सकता है। यदि यह विंडोज है तो स्टार्ट बटन के साथ एक डेस्कटॉप प्रदर्शित होता है।
