Types of Network Based on Topology (Connectivity)

The shape or layout of the network is called topology. How the nodes in the network are connected to each other and how they communicate with each other is determined by the topology itself. Topology is physics and logical. The method of connecting computers and data flow in it is called topology.

नेटवर्क के शेप या लेआउट को टोपोलॉजी कहते है। नेटवर्क में नोड किस तरह से आपस में एक-दूसरे से जुड़े रहते है और किस तरह से आपस में कम्युनिकेशन रखते है उसे टोपोलॉजी के द्वारा ही निर्धारित किया जाता है। टोपोलॉजी फ़िज़िक्स और लॉजिकल होती है । Computers को आपस में जोडने एवं उसमें डाटा Flow की विधि टोपोलॉजी कहलाती है।

Types of Topology

These are various types of topology: यह निम्न प्रकार के है l

a.       Bus Topology

b.      Ring Topology

c.       Star Topology

d.      Tree Topology

e.      Mesh Topology

Bus Topology

In bus topology, only one wire is used and all the computers are connected to the same wire in the same sequence. A special type of device is installed at the beginning and end of the wire, which is called Terminator. Its function is to control the signals.

बस टोपोलॉजी में एक ही तार का प्रयोग होता है और सभी कम्प्यूटरो को एक ही तार से एक ही क्रम में जोड़ा जाता है | तार के प्रारम्भ तथा अंत में एक विशेष प्रकार का Device लगा होता है जिसेTerminator कहते है | इसका कार्य Signals को नियंत्रण करना होता है |

Ring Topology

In Ring Topology, all the computers are connected in a circular structure. So when connected to each other, they all depend on each other. This computer has no host or main controlling computer.

Even if there is a circular arrangement of Ring Network, the data transfer in it happens at normal speed. But in order to run this system smoothly, it is necessary for the computers to determine whether the data sent is for them or not, if it is not for them, then that data is referred to the next computer.

Ring Topology में सभी कम्प्यूटर एक circular structure में जुडे़ होते हैं। अतः एक दूसरे से जुड़ने पर वे सभी एक दूसरे के ऊपर ही निर्भर करते हैं। इस कम्प्यूटर का कोई host या main controlling computer नहीं होता है

Ring Network की circular व्यवस्था होने पर भी इसमें data transfer साधारण गति से ही होता है। मगर इस व्यवस्था को सुचारू रूप से चलाने के लिये कम्प्यूटरों को यह निर्धारित करना जरूरी होता है कि भेजा गया डेटा उनके लिये है या नहीं यदि उनके लिए नही है तो वह data आगे वाले कम्प्यूटर के लिए refer कर दिया जाता है ।

Star Topology

Star topology consists of a host computer, which connects to different computers and controls them. Local networks are not connected to each other, but all of them are connected to the host computer itself. The cost of cable is less in connecting the host computer in Star Topology. If any local computer fails, the other computer is not affected. But this whole system depends only on the host computer, so if the host computer fails, then the entire network fails.

Star topology में एक Host Computer होता है, जो विभिन्न कम्प्यूटरों से जुड़कर उनको नियंत्रित करता है। Local Network आपस में एक दूसरे से जुडे़ नहीं होते हैं, बल्कि इन सभी को Host Computer से ही जोडा़ जाता है। Star Topology में Host Computer को जोड़ने में cable की लागत कम लगती है। यदि इसमें से कोई local computer खराब हो जाता है, यो अन्य कम्प्यूटर प्रभावित नहीं होता है। मगर यह पूरा सिस्टम केवल होस्ट कंप्यूटर पर ही निर्भर करता है  इसलिये यदि Host Computer में खराबी आ जाती है तो पूरा ही Network Fail हो जाता है l

Tree Topology

In tree topology, the characteristics of both star and bus topologies are present. It has a host computer like star topology and like bus topology all computers are connected by a single cable. This network looks like a tree; hence it is called Tree Topology.

ट्री टोपोलॉजी में स्टार तथा बस दोनों टोपोलॉजी के लक्षण विधमान होते है | इसमें स्टार टोपोलॉजी की तरह एक होस्ट कंप्यूटर होता है और बस टोपोलॉजी की तरह सारे कंप्यूटर एक ही केबल से जुड़े रहते हैं | यह नेटवर्क एक पेड़ के समान दिखाई देता हैं इसीलिए इसे Tree Topology कहते है l

Mesh Topology

This topology is a group of Star and Ring topology. Mesh topology is also called mesh network or mesh. Mesh is a network topology in which each node is connected to all other nodes of the network. It is a point-to-point connection to other nodes or devices.

यह टोपोलॉजी Star और Ring topology का समूह होता है l मेश टोपोलॉजी को मेश नेटवर्क या मेश भी कहा जाता है | मेश एक नेटवर्क टोपोलॉजी है जिसमे प्रत्येक नोड नेटवर्क के अन्य सभी नोड से जुड़े होते है | यह अन्य नोड्स या उपकरणों के लिए पॉइंट-टू-पॉइंट कनेक्शन है।
